Schools from Lawton in the southwest through the Oklahoma City metro and into the Tulsa metro are closed today. Several flights to and from both Will Rogers World Airport and Tulsa InternationalAirport have been canceled starting this morning.
Governor Brad Henry has already declared a statewide emergency ahead of the storm that's expected to dump ice and heavy snow on the state and the southern Plains. The National Weather Service says up to 12 inches of snow is possible in western and northern Oklahoma. Areas south of Interstate 44 could be in for an ice storm and widespread power outages.
State offices for non-essential state personnel are closed in Canadian, Cleveland, Lincoln, Logan, Oklahoma, Pottawatomie and McClain counties.
