House approves 10 bills
Published: 02/20/12 - 4:31pm Written by eCapitolThe House on Monday approved 10 bills, including one related to penalties for poaching.
The only bill receiving much opposition was HB 2573, by Rep. Pat Ownbey, R-Ardmore, which clarifies that a person may not catch by any means or method upon the land of another without consent of the owner, lessee or land occupant. It increases from $500 to $1,500 the penalty for violating the prohibition and makes such an act a misdemeanor.
Questions on the bill, which passed 61 to 33, centered on the difference between trespassing and poaching.
The House will reconvene at 9 a.m. Tuesday. For the full story go to www.ecapitol.net
