How the State is Dealing with Budget Problems

A report from the National Conference of State Legislatures shows Oklahoma was joined by all but a handful of states in passing tax and fee increases to deal with budget shortfalls. The report shows a total of 45 states increased taxes by suspending tax credits totalling 3$ billion. In Oklahoma, lawmakers passed legislation suspending more than 30 tax credits and other incentives for up to 24 months, to help plug a $1.2 billion hole in the state's budget.
