OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Federal Aviation Administration Aeronautical Center has been recognized with an environmental awardfrom President Barack Obama. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and FAA Administrator Randy Babbitt visited the Oklahoma City center on Tuesday to present the "Closing the Circle Award" to Lindy Ritz, the center's director.
Among energy-saving efforts undertaken at the center, the windows of buildings have been thickened to cut down on heating and cooling costs. Also, male employees are allowed to go tieless so they won't be so hot when the thermostat edges up. Obama is dispatching cabinet secretaries across the country this week to present similar awards.
