OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma schools now will have more time to prepare for and administer the testing of students. State Superintendent Sandy Garrett said Wednesday the window for student testing is being expanded because of the "length and magnitude" of school closings resulting from winter weather in recent weeks. The state writing exam scheduled for Feb. 24 for fifth- and eighth-graders now also will be offered on March 3. There also is a two-week expansion to the window for all other testing for grades 3 through 8. For secondary-level end-of-instruction exams, there is a one-week expansion to May 14 for pencil-and-paper tests and to May 21 for online tests. Garrett says there will be no significant delay in the return of test scores.
