OKC school district reports possible fraud

In a statement issued Monday, the district says it received information in April about the possible fraud and notified Oklahoma City police, who then turned over the investigation to federal authorities. The district did not name the tutoring provider.
So-called supplemental education services providers contract with the district to provide after-school instruction to students and are paid a pre-negotiated fee.
The district says the investigation is focused on whether students actually were being tutored after school, how they were selected for tutoring and whether the district was falsely billed for students who did not receive tutoring services. The district says its "processes and procedures" are being reviewed and evaluated.
