
Private Services Set for Oklahoma Soldier Killed

LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - A private funeral service has been scheduled for a U.S. Army soldier from Oklahoma who was killed in Afghanistan. Staff. Sgt. Travis Tompkins of Lawton died March 16 after being wounded the day before when his unit was attacked with a rocket propelled grenade. Tompkins was assigned to the Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk, La. A news release from Fort Sill says Tompkins' remains will be flown to the base Wednesday with services to be held Friday for family and friends only. Burial will follow at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin.
