(OK) Former presidential candidate Ralph Nader will speak in Oklahoma Wednesday as part of an effort to increase awareness about Oklahoma’s ballot access laws.

His speech, which will be held at the Oklahoma City Marriott at 3233 Northwest Expressway, is free and open to the public and will include a question-and-answer session. The event begins at 7 p.m.

Nader will speak about ballot access reform as well as several topics that are specific to Oklahoma, said Dr. Edward Shadid, whose Vote Shadid 2010 committee is sponsoring the event. Shadid is an Independent candidate for House District 85 who is endorsed by the Green Party.

“I asked Mr. Nader to speak on ballot access reform because I felt an increasing number of Oklahomans felt disenfranchised with the two-party system and its inability to face the problems in our state,” Shadid said.
