(OK) Steven Vaughan, Republican candidate for House District 37, said that he is running to give conservatives like himself a choice when they head to the polls in November.

Vaughan, a longtime financial planner who is preparing to retire, said that he respects incumbent Rep. Ken Luttrell, D-Ponca City, but feels that he often comes down on the wrong side of the issues.

Voters in House District 37, which includes parts of Kay and Osage counties in the northern part of the state, are fairly conservative, Vaughan said.

When it comes to the issues, Vaughan said that voters need a representative that will concentrate on balancing the budget, improving schools and limiting the size of government.
