Lawton Democrat proposes fair tax

(POL) Michael Corrales, the Democratic candidate for House District 64, said he wants to replace the state income tax with a state consumption tax.

            “I want to repeal the state income tax so everybody pays their fair share,” Corrales said.

            Many individuals receive income by illegal means, and the sales tax would be a way for these individuals to pay their share of the tax, lowering the bill for taxpayers, he said.

            Corrales said he is also concerned with the economy and wants to implement measures to help small businesses.
